Recently, while browsing YouTube, I came across a video from sprinkleofglitter called My First Time; talking about a few of her life’s firsts. I thought that the tag looked like fun, so, here is my response.
Please note that while I used many of the original “first time” prompts, I’ve taken out a few experiences and added ones that were more relevant to me.
First Best Friend
My first best friend was a girl named Jocelyn; we met in third grade when I moved from Vancouver to Calgary. Despite having moved back to Vancouver in 2003, Jocelyn and I are still friends today; except, now, we are both in our late 20’s.
My first kiss was with my first boyfriend at the tender age of 19 on the front patio of my family home; the relationship didn’t end well.
My first movie (that I remember) was the Lion King; my dad and uncle took me to the cinema, while my mum stayed home with my little brother.
First Time Getting Stitches
Funny Story! My first time getting stitches was on my tenth birthday. I walked directly into the corner of a wall; cracking my forehead open. I required a trip to the Emergency Room, where I received 11 stitches. Later that day, I went to the mall to get my ears pierced. It was an adventurous birthday. I still have the scar.
My first crush was a boy named Tyler in my Kindergarten class. Sadly, Tyler moved to Calgary after the end of the school year. However, funnily enough, I ran into him years later at the Calgary Zoo during the years that I lived in Alberta.
My first pet was a sweet, little guinea pig named Alice. I had wanted a guinea pig after having fallen for the class guinea pigs we had that year. So, I received Alice as a birthday present; I loved her dearly. However, we gave her to our neighbour’s kids when we moved back to Vancouver for my dad’s work. To be honest, I still wish I had a guinea pig; they are lovely creatures.
Because I’m a living Canadian stereotype, my first job was at Tim Hortons. I have mixed feelings about my time at this job, but I managed to work there for over four years.
First Gaming System
A Nintendo Entertainment System that my family had inherited from our neighbours when they purchased an N64. Duck Hunt was life.
All I can remember is that my first phone was an old LG that I purchased shortly after getting my first job. However, since that was over a decade ago, I can’t remember the precise model.
First Time Experiencing A Panic Attack
November 2008 after attending the funeral of a high school friend who’d committed suicide. I woke up at midnight in a complete state the morning after; I didn’t know what was happening and I thought that I was about to die. Terrifying.
My first real memory is of my 2nd birthday cake. I had a cake with a vanilla base; layered with yellow icing and jelly beans. My Mum believes that I only recollect this from pictures, but I swear that I remember having this cake first-hand.
First Ever Blog Comment
First Blog Post
Unfortunately, when I transferred my blog from WordPress.com to self-hosted server, I lost a lot of my content. So, the first blog post shown isn’t truly my first blog post. To be honest, I can’t recall what my first post was about; I believe that it may have been a “why I blog” post, though.
I hope that you have enjoyed reading about my first times. If you liked this post, feel free to make your own response and post it in the comments; I’d love to read them
