Like many people, I am a huge binge watcher when it comes to television shows that I like.
So, I thought that I would take a minute and share a list of the shows that I have been watching lately.
I recently discovered Flight of the Conchords while using my free trial of CraveTV. This offbeat, Kiwi comedy is set in New York and features to New Zealand expats (Jemaine Clement; Bret McKenzie).
Flight of the Conchords has me cracking up with every episode; it is just so endearingly quirky. I will never not laugh at their ongoing rivalry with the Australian embassy.
I would say that Flight of the Conchords is a cult classic that combines the styles of Dmitri Martin with Napolean Dynamite.
The Brokenwood Mysteries is another New Zealand production that I particularly enjoy.
This show is currently 3 seasons in and is set in a fictional small town called Brokenwood, NZ.
Like most of the shows on this list, I love the characters and their interactions with each other. I especially enjoy watching Jared Morehu, the young rogue who appears to be Brokenwood’s only Maori citizen.
Now, if you hop across the ditch to Australia, you will find Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries; Which I became addicted to when I discovered it on Netflix Canada.
Miss Fisher is set in 1920’s Melbourne, Australia – Where the lead, Miss Fisher, works as an independent detective to solve murders.
I love that this show has incredibly likable characters, featuring a strong female lead. I believe that Phryne Fisher is an icon in a male-dominated genre.
Speaking of Mysteries, I am also loving Murdoch Mysteries.
This Canadian show comes on weekly on CBC and is set in Victorian-era Toronto.
I really love the characters in this show, from the kindhearted Detective Murdoch to the goofy and well-intentioned Constable Crabtree.
If you live in the United States, I believe that this show has been renamed The Artful Detective.
Finally, my last show for this post is Gilmore Girls.
Sadly, I never got around to watching this show while it was still being made. However, with the recent release of Gilmore Girls ‘A Year in A Life,’ I decided to watch this show from the start.
Basically, Gilmore Girls is a sweet show that follows a Mother and Daughter in a town called Stars Hollow.
Currently, I am on season 5 of the show. I love everything from the storylines to the character dynamics. I only regret not following the show earlier.
So, these are the series that I have been following recently. I recently started to get back into my reading, which leaves less time for binge-watching sessions. However, it is still fun to sit down every so often and have a marathon.
At the moment, I am currently subscribed to Netflix and CraveTV. So, I find that I actually watch very little live TV.
What shows are you into right now?
